Pitjantjatjara is not a relic of the past. It is a thriving language spoken by over 3,000 people in the remote communities of the Pitjantjatjara lands (the North-West of South Australia, the Northern Territory’s border region, and parts of Western Australia). Unlike many endangered Aboriginal languages, Pitjantjatjara is being passed to younger generations.
