When the doors of the elevator (or, in this case, the concrete bunker of WCKD) close for the last time, it leaves behind a trail of dust, grief, and adrenaline. Maze Runner: The Death Cure —the explosive 2018 finale to the dystopian trilogy based on James Dashner’s novels—is a masterclass in paying off a franchise’s promise.
