The primary function of the Service Tool is to manage the printer's "Waste Ink Counter." Every time a printer performs a cleaning cycle, it deposits ink into an internal absorbent pad. To prevent overflow and mess, the printer tracks this via a counter. Once the counter hits a predefined limit, the printer stops working, displaying an error code (often 5B00). Service Tool v5306 allows technicians to reset this counter, restoring the printer to operational status after the physical pads have been cleaned or replaced.
To use the tool effectively, the printer must first be placed in manually.
