A smart card driver acts as the translator between the physical UMT dongle (a USB device containing a cryptographic processor) and the Windows operating system. Without the correct driver, the computer cannot recognize the dongle, rendering the expensive hardware useless. In many cases, users encounter error codes such as “Smart Card Not Detected,” “Driver Not Installed,” or the dreaded “Error 10: Device Cannot Start.” These errors are not just inconveniences; they represent lost time, delayed repairs, and frustrated customers. Therefore, finding a driver that works the first time is a professional necessity, not a luxury.

Modern Windows blocks unsigned drivers. You must disable this temporarily.
