The movie takes place in the 1970s, during the Vietnam War. A team of scientists and soldiers, led by Bill Randa (John Goodman), embark on an expedition to a remote island in the Pacific, known as Skull Island. The team includes a geologist, a photographer, and a soldier, among others.
