How do you stop the "missing zipmod" nightmare from recurring?

: If you use KKManager , run the "Look for updates" tool. It can often detect and fix missing mod dependencies or update the Sideloader Modpack. hs2 missing zipmod

You downloaded a zipmod and accidentally unzipped it. Instead of mods/MyCoolHair.zipmod , you have mods/MyCoolHair/ (a folder). BepInEx does not scan subfolders for loose files unless specially configured. If the .zipmod extension is missing, it won't load. How do you stop the "missing zipmod" nightmare
