Preity Zinta grew up in a traditional family in Shimla. She completed her schooling at St. Ann's Degree College for Women in Shimla and later graduated with a degree in English literature from Delhi University. Her entry into the film industry began with modeling, which eventually led to her being crowned the Femina Miss India International 1998. Her impressive performance in the pageant caught the attention of filmmakers, and she soon made her Bollywood debut with the film "Dil Se.." in 1998, directed by Mani Ratnam.
